MUZAFFARABAD: AJK President Barrister Sultan Mohammad Mehmood Chaudhry has mandated the establishment of fully operational Kashmir Studies Institutes across every university in Azad Kashmir in order to amplify awareness about Kashmir culture and the ongoing Kashmir dispute.
The directive was issued during a meeting between President Chaudhry and the Secretary General of the Kashmir-American Awareness Forum, Dr. Ghulam Nabi Fai, a globally recognized leader in the Kashmir rights movement. The gathering, which took place in the presence of key figures including Chairman of the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan, Dr. Mukhar Ahmed, and Vice-Chancellors of AJK universities, witnessed discussions aimed at bolstering educational initiatives focusing on Kashmir.
Dr. Ghulam Nabi Fai commended President Chaudhry’s persistent efforts in projecting the Kashmir dispute on the international stage, lauding his unwavering dedication. Stressing the imperative implementation of UN resolutions on Kashmir, Dr. Fai urged global human rights bodies to address the rampant violations perpetrated by Indian occupation forces in the region.
President Chaudhry, highlighting the grave atrocities inflicted by India upon the populace of occupied Kashmir, denounced the oppressive actions of the over one million-strong Indian forces stationed in the region. He underscored India’s alleged involvement in extrajudicial activities beyond Kashmir, citing the recent killing of a Sikh leader in Canada as evidence of India’s exportation of internal conflict.
The meeting also saw the presence of prominent figures from the Kashmir movement, including Sardar Zilfikar Roshan, Dr. Waleed Rasool, Presidential Adviser Sardar Imtiaz Khan, and Presidential Affairs Secretary Sardar Idrees Abbasi.
The establishment of Kashmir Studies Institutes reflects a concerted effort to shed light on the multifaceted aspects of Kashmir’s rich cultural heritage and the ongoing struggle for self-determination, underscoring a commitment to global advocacy and education on the Kashmir issue.
