MIRPUR AJK: The Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Legislative Assembly has strongly rejected the abrogation of Article 370 by the Indian government and declared it a dirty conspiracy against Kashmiris and their democratic rights.

They termed the Indian government’s sinister actions as an atrocious assault to alter the IIOJK’s demographics and erode the Muslim majority’s ancient political, religious, and cultural identity.

In its meeting, the assembly unanimously adopted a resolution presented by Prime Minister Azad Jammu and Kashmir Chaudhry Anwar ul Haq denounced the Indian decision and termed it as a flagrant violation of the UN Security Council resolutions.

While presenting the resolution in the assembly, the AJK prime minister said that 5 August was another darkest day in the history of Kashmir.

He said that being a representative forum of the entire state of IIOJK, the assembly represents the sentiments of the Kashmiris living on both sides of the Line of Control.

He said that this house rejects India’s attempted annexation of the IIOJK and considers all its actions illegitimate and against the spirit of international law and UN resolutions.

Hindutva Agenda of Indian Government

He said that the assembly considers changing the status of IIOJK and dividing it into two Union Territories as an attempt to push forward the Hindutva agenda in the area and erode the identity of the Kashmiri people.

The resolution condemned the Cultural aggression and distortion of Kashmir’s history and its civilization by India.

He said that this session condemns, in strongest terms, the Indian bid to reduce Kashmiri’s role in the political decision-making process, snatching the right to due representation through unjust, illegal, and unconstitutional ways.
