ISLAMABAD: In a landmark development, the Pakistan Tennis Federation on Saturday elected Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi as its new president for next term, local media reported. The election to choose new office-bearers were held at the PTF SDA Tennis Complex Islamabad wherein representatives of all associated units of the PTF held.
After a closely contested polls, Aisam emerged winner, securing eight votes against his opponent Maj General (retd) Asghar Nawaz’s seven votes for the presidential post.
The poll results saw Lt. Col. (retd) Zia Uddin Tufail assuming the position of Secretary General PTF, while M. Arif Qureshi was elected Treasurer. Talking to media persons, Aisam said that he is very excited at the win. He further said that he had learnt a lot at the global level and would be trying to disseminate his knowledge and experience of the game to Pakistan players.
