ISLAMABAD: International Air Transport Association (IATA) has said that Pakistan stood among the top markets where airline funds have been blocked from repatriation.
Pakistan has blocked $225 million of passenger carrier funds for repatriation. The aviation body shared that passenger carrier funds are being blocked from repatriation in more than 27 countries and territories.
According to the IATA, total funds blocked now tally at close to $2 billion, which called on governments to eliminate all barriers to airlines repatriating their revenues from ticket and other activities, in the line with international agreements and treaty obligations.

Airline funds being blocked have increased
IATA warned that the amount of passenger carrier funds for repatriation being blocked by the governments has increased by more than 25 percent ($394 million) in the last six months. As per IATA, Pakistan is among the top five countries worldwide that have blocked passenger carrier funds (excluding Venezuela).
