ISLAMABAD: AIOU has expanded its educational services globally and the number of international students is increasing rapidly. 460 international students from 36 countries got enrolled in the last semester.
According to the university, students from any country in the world including America, Africa, Germany, Japan, Canada, the United Kingdom, Turkey, Malaysia, Indonesia, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates can enroll in Allama Iqbal Open University.
Moreover, in the last few years, the University has laid special focus on signing MoUs regarding faculty and students exchange programs, and joint degree initiatives with national and international institutions including universities and research organizations from the United Kingdom, Turkey, Indonesia, Saudi Arabia, and others in the last four years.
AIOU Initiative
Another important initiative taken by AIOU was the agreement with Turkey and the United Kingdom regarding the professional development of AIOU’s faculty and staff and now the university is sending small cohorts of faculty and staff for training.
In the last four years, AIOU has established a facilitation center for students to provide information under one roof to solve their problems, expand of university infrastructure, provide internet packages to students at discounted rates for AIOU students, launch of email and SMS service for immediate notifications for students, call centers for students’ problems and provide prompt response and establishment of “Online Complaint Management Center”, tracking system for information of books and verification of exams, and degrees.
Regional offices and model study centers of Allama Iqbal Open University have been established in far-flung areas to include out-of-school children in remote areas in the educational network. University is focusing on shifting the regional offices from rented houses to their own buildings, a lot of progress has been made in this regard as well and the construction of AIOU’s own buildings in different areas is in progress.
