AIOU holds Christmas Event

ISLAMABAD: Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) organized a grand event celebrating Christmas festivities with the university’s Christian workers.

The event was presided over by Vice Chancellor Dr. Nasir Mahmood. The event started with prayers for national security. In addition to other employees, about 120 Christian employees participated in the event, including representatives of the Employees Welfare Association. Christmas cake was also cut in the ceremony.

Speaking on the occasion, the VC of AIOU said such events promote the atmosphere of religious harmony in the country. He spoke about peace, mercy, and hope. He said all prophets taught love, tolerance, forgiveness, and justice.

“As far as the Christian community is concerned, my country has given the right to religious freedom to the minorities, and the people of all religions living here are Pakistanis. All employees in the institution have equal rights, and Christian workers have the same rights as other workers,” the Vice-Chancellor said.

Prayers were also offered for the development and prosperity of the country, and good wishes were expressed for the Christian community on this occasion. Pastor Obaid Sadiq of Rawalpindi read selected verses from the Bible and highlighted inter-faith harmony, national security, and the well-being of the global human society.
