ISLAMABAD: A five-day teachers’ training workshop at Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) concluded successfully on Thursday, focusing on the professional development of educators in basic education community schools.
The closing ceremony had Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Nasir Mahmood as the chief guest, and former Parliamentary Secretary of Federal Education, Zeb Jafar, as the guest of honour.
Prof. Dr. Nasir Mahmood commended the teachers and administrators for successfully completing the workshop, emphasizing how such training sessions enhance professional skills. He highlighted that competent and trained teachers are essential for ensuring quality education, underscoring the profound impact of educators on shaping young minds.
Furthermore, Prof. Dr. Nasir Mahmood urged the trainee teachers to consider the unique ideas and capabilities of each child to boost their confidence, reflecting on his own journey influenced by his teachers.
Teachers’ role recognized
Zeb Jafar recognized teachers as role models who have adopted the profession of prophets. She congratulated the Director General of Basic Education Community Schools, Hameed Khan Niazi, for successfully enrolling out-of-school children in Islamabad, making a positive impact.
Hameed Khan Niazi expressed his satisfaction with the achievement of enrolling 12,700 out-of-school children in Islamabad within a short span of time, asserting that there are no more out-of-school children in the city. He expressed gratitude to Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Nasir Mehmood for the logistical, professional, and technical support.
The event was attended by Director General of Basic Education Community Schools, Hameed Khan Niazi, Chairman of the Department of Secondary Teacher Education, Prof. Dr. Fazlur Rehman and Prof. Dr. Tanzila Nabeel, Dean of the Faculty of Education AIOU.
