Minister for Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives Prof. Ahsan Iqbal on Tuesday reviewed the progress in the 11th meeting of the Joint Cooperation Committee (JCC) to be held later this month and directed all concerned ministries to complete their homework.
The Secretary Ministry of Planning, Secretary of Communications, Executive Director of China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), and representatives of various ministries also participated in the meeting.
It should be noted that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will also visit China at the end of this week, so the meeting of the 11th JCC is very important.
It should also be remembered that the present government has revived CPEC projects as soon as it assumed power, which was completely neglected during the last four years of PTI.
The meeting reviewed the progress of different projects in various sectors such as energy, information technology, socio-economic development, industrial cooperation, science and technology, transport infrastructure, and international cooperation, which will be presented in the 11th JCC meeting.
In the meeting, the concerned ministries shared their project proposals after holding their Joint Working Groups JWGs, which were reviewed in detail.
The Federal Minister directed the Power Division to speed up the process of approval of the energy policy for Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) so that the pre-planned projects for GB can be taken forward.
The federal minister also said that the Chinese authorities have shown great interest in the fishing sector and directed the relevant ministry to submit a concrete proposal in this regard.
He said that the Chinese authorities are also ready to establish a working group on the sector and also issued instructions to prepare some concrete proposals to the concerned ministry.
