ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Test cricketer Ahmed Shehzad lavished praise on returning opener Sahibzada Farhan for his blistering 74-run innings in the second T20I against Bangladesh.
The right-hander had made his T20I debut back in 2018 but played only two more matches that year before being side-lined.
He was handed another opportunity over five years later, during the tour of Australia in January 2024 under the captaincy of Shaheen Shah Afridi.
However, Farhan failed to make an impact in that series — managing scores of just 1 and 19 in two appearances — which saw him dropped once again. He returned during Pakistan’s subsequent tours of Australia later that year but was again unable to cement his place.
Following the match, Ahmed Shehzad took to his official X (formerly Twitter) account to express his delight at the 29-year-old’s performance.
“Delighted to see Sahibzada Farhan getting another opportunity for Pakistan and making it count,” Shehzad wrote. “A fantastic start for him. What an innings. What a player. The sky is the limit.”

Despite this, he continued to score heavily in domestic cricket and emerged as the top run-scorer in the recently concluded Pakistan Super League (PSL) season 10.
On Friday, Farhan was given another chance, stepping in for the unfit Fakhar Zaman — and this time, he truly seized the moment.
Maiden fifty
Opening the innings, he smashed 74 off just 41 deliveries, including ten boundaries and six sixes, setting the tone for Pakistan’s commanding total of 201-6 at Gaddafi Stadium.
It marked his first T20I appearance in six months and his maiden fifty in national colours — a knock that not only helped Pakistan clinch the series but also revived hopes of a prolonged future in the green shirt.
