KABUL: Acting Minister of Public Works Mohammad Esa Thani said on Friday that if Pakistan does not complete the construction of the second lane of the Jalalabad-Torkham highway, Afghanistan will do it.
The construction of the road, which is 75 km long, had started sixteen years ago with the financial commitment of Pakistan, but it has not been completed yet.
Thani, during his trip to Nangarhar province along with Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, also said that technical teams have been sent to inspect the Kabul-Jalalabad highway’s second lane and the problem of restarting the project would be discussed with the leader of Afghanistan.
Baradar said that all issues would be addressed, but based on priorities, we will seek to discuss with the leadership about the start of the second Kabul-Nangarhar road. We hope that this issue would be resolved soon.
Security ensured in Afghanistan
He asserted that security plays an important role in the political and economic development of nations, which is now ensured in Afghanistan.
Baradar said that security prevails all over Afghanistan and things are done according to a decree all over the country. We must cooperate.
He also asked the citizens living abroad to return to Afghanistan to get rid of the problems in hosting countries.
