Afghanistan Calls for Regional Peace Talks to Enhance Interaction with Neighbors

KABUL: The Acting Foreign Minister of Afghanistan Mawlavi Amir Khan Muttaqi convened a meeting with the ambassadors and heads of diplomatic missions from Iran, Pakistan, Russia, China, Uzbekistan, India, Turkiye, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, and Indonesia in Kabul on Wednesday.

The meeting aimed to highlight the significance of regional peace talks in fostering increased and sustained positive interaction with Kabul.

During the meeting, Minister Muttaqi stressed on he need for constructive engagement between Afghanistan and its neighboring nations, as well as the global community.

Afghanistan for friendly relations

He reiterated that Afghanistan was seeking to establish friendly and mutually beneficial ties with all countries, promoting peace, stability, and prosperity in the region.

Moreover, the foreign minister asserted that in the presence of the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan and the independent central government, there is no requirement for the appointment of new special representatives.

As Afghanistan was embarking on a new phase in its history, the global community would closely observe the outcomes of these regional peace negotiations and their potential to strengthen cooperation, deepen understanding, and lay the foundation for a peaceful and prosperous future for Afghanistan and its neighboring nations.
