KABUL: Afghanistan’s Acting Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs, Sher Mohammad Abbas Stanekzai, has lodged a formal complaint against the United States, alleging ongoing violations of Afghanistan’s airspace by US drones.
In an interview with Ariana News, Stanekzai revealed that officials from the Taliban administration have raised this issue during negotiations with American delegations, stressing the importance of halting such violations. “Yes, US drones are patrolling in Afghanistan’s airspace, and we repeatedly raised this issue with the US authorities in the meetings,” Stanekzai stated.
Stanekzai further referenced the Doha agreement, noting that it stipulates that after the withdrawal of US forces, the United States should maintain friendly relations with Afghanistan’s new Islamic government and actively participate in the country’s reconstruction, while refraining from interfering in its internal affairs.
Addressing concerns from Central Asian nations regarding the construction of the Qosh Tepa canal, Stanekzai reaffirmed that the canal is an Afghan project, and the government remains committed to its completion. He emphasized, “The Qosh Tepa canal is an Afghan project, and the Taliban government will continue to complete it.”
Afghanistan Commitment to Women’s Education
Regarding the education of Afghan women and girls, Stanekzai assured that the educational process will remain open, with the Taliban administration fully committed to safeguarding their educational rights. He asserted, “As an Afghan, I can say that education will not be banned till the end; it should not be banned, and this is the natural and religious right of girls.” Stanekzai added that universities and schools will admit girls once conducive conditions are in place.
Stanekzai also urged opponents of the Taliban to consider returning to Afghanistan and expressed hope that the country could provide a stable and secure environment for its citizens.
