KABUL: The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan’s meteorological department, under the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Transportation, has issued heavy rainfall and floods warnings in eight of Afghanistan’s 34 provinces.

This alert comes after recent devastating floods, particularly affected Baghlan province that left more than 300 people.

The statement specifies that Badakhshan, Takhar, Baghlan, Panjshir, Nuristan, Laghman, Kunar, and Nangarhar provinces are at risk, with expected rainfall ranging from 15 to 25 millimeters.

This warning follows a report by the UN’s food agency, claiming that over 300 people have died in recent flooding in Baghlan province.

Earlier today, political and military movements have criticized the Taliban for their perceived failure to establish a “legitimate and accountable government,” exacerbating the suffering of those impacted by recent floods in Afghanistan that left more than 300 people dead.

The Jamiat-e Islamic party issued a statement urging international aid organizations, traders, the Afghan diaspora, and philanthropists to swiftly provide aid to the flood victims.

Similarly, the Freedom Front lambasted the Taliban, saying their incapability in managing natural disasters. The Front accused the group of neglecting their duties towards affected people and perpetuating coercion and discrimination, which only serves to further isolate the nation.
