PESHAWAR: Afghan SIMs are being used in the majority of terrorism and extortion activities in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan, a Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) KP report revealed on Tuesday.
The report compiled by the CTD KP said that most of the terrorists and extortionists are using Afghan SIMs in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
It further said that 830 cases of terrorism were lodged this year so far, out of which 601 cases have been traced and 1,982 suspects were nominated. Over 500 suspects were apprehended, and 216 were killed in operations.
The CTD said that thirty-two cases were executed by the court, and eighty cases of extortion were registered, of which forty-seven had been traced.

In the cases of extortion money, 197 people are nominated, out of which ninety have been arrested۔
DIG CTD Imran Shahid said that Afghan SIMs are being used in terrorism and extortion cases, which become an issue for the agency to trace.
Afghan Nationals Under Fire
Earlier on 4 October, Interior Minister Sarfraz Ahmad Bugti accused Afghan nationals of ‘rising terror activities’ in Pakistan.
He said that out of 24 explosions in Pakistan, Afghan nationals were involved in 14 of them.
