KABUL: In a positive development, Afghan citizens who have been residing in Pakistan are now allowed to return to Afghanistan through the Torkham border by presenting their national identity cards (IDs). This opportunity was made possible through the efforts and negotiations between Afghan and Pakistani officials at the Torkham border.

According to Esmatullah Yaqoob, the Torkham commissioner, Afghan refugees who have been stranded in Pakistan without passports can enter Afghanistan using the Torkham border by displaying their national identity cards. This decision aims to facilitate the return of Afghan immigrants, and they are expected to be able to return home for Eidul Adha celebrations.

Facilitation of Afghan Citizens

This move follows a similar action taken by Afghan officials during Eidul Fitr at the Torkham port, which allowed Afghan refugees stranded in Pakistan to return to their homeland with the help of their national identity cards.

The decision to allow Afghan refugees to return home with their IDs is seen as a significant step towards easing their repatriation process and ensuring their safe return to Afghanistan. It is a positive development that provides relief to Afghan citizens who have been living in Pakistan and wish to return to their home country.
