KABUL: The Afghan Taliban chief spokesman Zabiullah Mujahid said on Tuesday that the Afghanistan interim government desired better relations with all its neighboring countries, including Pakistan, and believed in all the means and resources that could help them meet the goal.
His statement came a day after Pakistan’s civil and military leadership huddle, chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, asked the Afghanistan government not to provide safe heavens to Pakistani terrorist groups on Afghan soil.
During the past couple of months, Pakistan has witnessed a sharp increase in terror incidents, especially in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, after the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) terror group declared to end the ceasefire with Pakistan.
Pakistan government warn of action again TTP
Earlier, Pakistan’s Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah, in an interview, had said, “Pakistan may target the TTP in Afghanistan if Afghan authorities do not take action to dismantle the TTP sanctuaries.”
While expressing his disappointment over the Pakistani authorities’ statements, the Taliban spokesperson Zabihullah said they are trying their best to ensure that Afghanistan soil is not used against Pakistan or any other state.

“It is also the responsibility of Pakistan to try to control the situation and avoid leveling baseless allegations and issuing provocative statements,” the spokesman said. He said that such statements and an atmosphere of mistrust are against the interest of both countries.
The Afghanistan government not only gives importance to stability and peace inside the country but in the whole region, the Taliban spokesperson said. He vowed that his country would continue efforts for peace and stability in the region.
