ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Qazi Faez Isa has appointed Okara Additional District and Sessions Judge, Jazeela Aslam, as the first-ever female Supreme Court of Pakistan Registrar in the country’s history.
The official notification of the appointment stated: “Pursuant to Honorable Supreme Court of Pakistan dated September 17, 2023, the Honorable Chief Justice and Judges are pleased to place the services of Ms. Jazeela Aslam, District and Sessions Judge, Okara, in the public interest, with immediate effect at the disposal of that court, for her posting as Registrar, Supreme Court of Pakistan on deputation basis for a period of three years.” It further clarified that ADSJ Jazeela would remain repatriated to the Supreme Court for the stipulated time, unless directed otherwise.
Jazeela Aslam, a mother of three, boasts an impressive academic and professional background. She achieved a first division in her Bachelor’s degree from Kinnaird College and completed her LLB from Punjab University, securing the second position in the judicial competitive exam of Punjab. Her judicial career began in May 1994 when she joined the Punjab Judicial Service as a civil judge/judicial magistrate. Over the years, she has also served as a deputy solicitor.
Notably, ADSJ Jazeela is the senior-most lady district and sessions judge in Punjab, reflecting her wealth of experience and dedication to the field of law.

Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa, who was sworn in as the 29th chief justice of Pakistan, has made this groundbreaking appointment on his first day in office. He was administered the oath of office by President Arif Alvi. The oath taking ceremony was also graced by Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar, Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir, and all judges of the apex court.
CJP Qazi Faez Isa’s first official act in his new role was to convene a full court to hear the review petitions related to the Supreme Court (Practice and Procedure) Act, 2023. This hearing, scheduled for tomorrow, is one of the most critical cases currently pending before the Supreme Court.
