SAN JOSE: Adobe co-founder and prominent personality in tech industry Dr. John Warnock has died aged 82, Adobe announced on Sunday.
“It is with profound sadness that Adobe shares the passing of the company’s beloved co-founder Dr. John Warnock. Dr. Warnock passed away surrounded by his family,” the company in a statement said.

Shantanu Narayen, Adobe’s CEO, in the statement said it is a sad day for the Adobe community and the industry for which John Warnock has been an inspiration for decades.
However, the actual exact cause of Warnock’s death has not been revealed.

Dr. Warnock co-founded Adobe in 1982 with Dr. Charles Geschke. Their first product was Adobe PostScript, a technology that revolutionized the digital printing.
He served as CEO of Adobe until his retirement in 2000. He continued to play a vital role as chairman of the board alongside Geschke until 2017.

He was awarded with National Medal of Technology and Innovation by President Barack Obama in 2008.
Later Dr. Warnock got the Computer Entrepreneur Award from the IEEE Computer Society; the American Electronics Association Medal of Achievement; and the high honor of the Marconi Prize for contributions to information science and communications.
