BEIJING: A declaration on jointly building China-Africa community with a shared future for the new era and an action plan of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) for the next three years, were approved today at the 2024 FOCAC Summit in Beijing, Chinese media reported on Thursday.
According to the joint statement, the Beijing Summit and Ninth Ministerial Conference of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) was held in Beijing. The Heads of State; Government and delegation of China and around 53 African nations; and the African Union Commission Chairperson and their foreign ministers attended the summit and ministerial conference, respectively.
It added, “The two sides speak highly of FOCAC’s achievements over the last 24 years. It has kept pace with the prevailing trend of peace, progress and win-win cooperation, overcame problems posed by the changing and turbulent global environment, sluggish international economic recovery, and the COVID-19 pandemic, and promoted the comprehensive development of friendship and cooperation between Africa and China”.
The two sides are satisfied with the comprehensive and effective execution of the Nine Programs, China-Africa Cooperation Vision 2035, Dakar Action Plan (2022-2024), and Declaration on China-Africa Cooperation on Combating Climate Change put forward at the eighth FOCAC Ministerial Conference and their follow-up measures.
They welcomed the success of the China-Africa Leaders’ Dialogue held in South Africa and the launch of the Initiative on Supporting Africa’s Industrialization, the Plan for China Supporting Africa’s Agricultural Modernization, and the Plan for China-Africa Cooperation on Talent Development. They will work together to implement these steps and plans for common prosperity and development.
The joint statement added that the two sides promise to remain guided by and uphold openness and inclusiveness in developing China-Africa ties.
