ISLAMABAD: All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) leaders and groups in Indian Illegally-Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) called July 19 a significant day in Kashmir’s history as Kashmiris on both sides of the Line of Control (LoC) as well as across the globe are commemorating the ‘Accession to Pakistan Day’ today.
The All Jammu and Kashmir Muslim Conference met at Sardar Muhammad Ibrahim Khan’s home in the Abi Guzar neighbourhood of Srinagar on this day in 1947, and according to the Kashmir media service, the genuine representatives of the Kashmiris unanimously approved the resolution of Kashmir’s accession to Pakistan.
The APHC leaders, including Vice Chairman Ghulam Ahmed Gulzar, Maulana Sibte Shabbir Qummi, Chaudhry Shaheen Iqbal, Abdul Ahad Parra, Ghulam Muhammad Khan Sopori, Abdus Samad Inqilabi, Dr. Musaib, Aaqib Wani, Yasin Attai, Khadim Hussain, Jammu and Kashmir Political Resistance Movement, Jammu, and Kashmir Muslim Conference, Wareseen–e-Shuhada, Nawjawanan-e-Hurriyat, Jammu Kashmir Democratic Youth Forum, Jammu and Kashmir Justice League Forum, Jammu Kashmir Democratic Movement, Kashmir and Jammu and Kashmir Pir Panjal Movement, and Itehaad-e-Islami Jammu in their statements said that the decision of July 19 July 1947 was a testimony to the fact that the people of Kashmir had connected their future with Pakistan.
They demanded that the UN Secretary-General recognize the war crimes committed by Indian forces in the internationally acknowledged disputed region of Jammu and Kashmir and assist in resolving the Kashmir conflict following the aspirations of the Kashmiris and the pertinent UN resolutions.
The APHC leaders and organizations claimed that Kashmiris celebrate July 19 as Accession to Pakistan Day yearly to show their support for Pakistan. They said the Kashmiri leadership decided to tie their future to Pakistan on this day. They told the Kashmiri leadership that they had made this crucial choice before Pakistan was founded.
Kashmiris on both sides of the LoC as well as across the globe are commemorating the ‘Accession to Pakistan Day’ today. They reaffirmed their unwavering commitment in the struggle for Jammu and Kashmir’s emancipation from Indian occupation and its complete integration with Pakistan.
This significant occasion harkens back to the fateful day of 1947 when the authentic representatives of the Kashmiri people, convened at the residence of Sardar Muhammad Ibrahim Khan in Srinagar, unanimously adopted the resolution endorsing Kashmir’s accession to Pakistan. The resolution, imbued with historical importance, asserted the necessity of aligning the state of Jammu and Kashmir with Pakistan based on religious, geographical, cultural, and economic affinities, as well as the aspirations harboured by the millions of Kashmiri Muslims, according to state media.
In the meantime, deeming the 19th of July a watershed moment in Kashmir’s annals, the Kashmiri leadership has emphatically restated their unwavering determination to carry the torch of the freedom struggle, drawing inspiration from the momentous resolution passed during the aforementioned gathering of the All Jammu and Kashmir Muslim Conference in Srinagar on this very day in 1947. —APP
