ISLAMABAD: Abu Dhabi Ports (ADP), owned by the Government of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), has shown keen interest in operating the Pakistan International Container Terminal (PICT), according to recent reports.
During a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Inter-Governmental Commercial Transactions (CCoIGCT), chaired by Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, a summary from the Ministry of Maritime Affairs highlighted the interest expressed by Abu Dhabi Ports in managing operations at PICT.
To further strengthen the maritime sector’s collaboration between Pakistan and the UAE, the CCoIGCT decided to establish a committee to negotiate the draft Framework Agreement between the two governments under the Inter-Governmental Commercial Transaction Act 2022.

The meeting was attended by Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Syed Faisal Ali Subzwari, Federal Minister for Power Khurram Dastagir, Federal Minister for Commerce Syed Naveed Qamar, SAPM on Revenue Tariq Pasha, the Attorney General of Pakistan, and senior officers from the relevant ministries.
