LAHORE: Former inspector Punjab police, Abid Boxer escaped from police custody along with his three aides after ‘snatching government rifles’, local media reported.
The former police inspector and his three aides managed to flee from the police custody after snatching weapons from the on-duty cops. Abid and his gunmen were arrested by the Lahore Crime Investigation Agency (CIA).
He was shifted to the Model Town police station but, according to media reports, he managed to escape from the police custody.
Abid had joined the police force in 1988 as an assistant sub-inspector on the sports quota. He later got elevation to the rank of inspector. Notorious for fake police encounters, Boxer had fled the country after various criminal cases were registered against him.
He was later arrested in the United Arab Emirates and extradited to Pakistan through Interpol in February 2022.
