ISLAMABAD: Abdul Hameed Lone, a prominent Kashmiri leader and activist, has strongly condemned the Indian government’s suppression of the voices of oppressed Kashmiris and local farmers.
In a recent interview with a news channel, Lone emphasized the need for the international community to intervene and resolve these issues peacefully.
Expressing outrage over the police crackdown on protesting farmers, including the use of tear gas shells and sealing entry points to the capital, Lone called for an immediate halt to the escalating crackdown. He urged the Indian government to release all those arrested for peacefully exercising their rights to freedom of expression and assembly.
Lone stressed the importance of de-escalating the situation and ensuring the rights to freedom of expression and movement. He called on Indian authorities to stop crushing peaceful dissent and remove unnecessary restrictions hindering peaceful protests across the country.
Reflecting on the plight of Kashmiris, Lone highlighted their decades-long struggle against Indian atrocities in the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) region. He lauded Pakistan’s unwavering support for the Kashmiri people on international platforms and its commitment to addressing the Kashmir issue through diplomatic and political means.
Furthermore, Lone underscored Pakistan’s historical solidarity with Kashmiris, citing its support during critical moments and its advocacy for Kashmiri rights on various international forums. He criticized Indian policies for exposing the true nature of India’s cruelty to the world, highlighting Pakistan’s role in bringing attention to the injustices faced by Kashmiris.
