NEW DELHI: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Sunday held the Indian ruling political party, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), responsible for the recent violence in Manipur and criticized Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his alleged incompetence in resolving the situation and restoring peace in the northeastern state.
During a press conference, AAP Rajya Sabha MP and national spokesperson Sanjay Singh stated, “As long as the BJP is in power, peace, and tranquillity in the country will remain a far cry.” He further condemned the prime minister for his silence on the ongoing crisis, saying, “Manipur has been burning for over one-and-a-half months, but Prime Minister Narendra Modi is silent. He has not even uttered the letter ‘M’ of Manipur so far.”
Singh questioned the prime minister’s inaction and accused him of lacking an agenda or vision for the country, alleging that his only motive was to spread hatred and maintain power. Referring to the BJP, Singh claimed, “Spread hatred and rule – this is the formula the BJP and Prime Minister Modi have been applying to continue in power.”
The AAP MP also criticized the BJP as “the biggest factory of hatred” in the country, asserting that peace would remain elusive as long as the party was in existence. Singh further alleged that the BJP was responsible for the ongoing violence in Manipur, stating, “Manipur is witnessing violence due to the hatred spread by the BJP in the state.”
Sanjay Singh urged the prime minister to cut short his foreign tour and visit Manipur to address the tense situation prevailing in the state. He emphasized that the victims of the violence were citizens of India and appealed to the prime minister to take action, expressing his disappointment over Modi’s silence on the matter.
