ISLAMABAD: A total of 37 new cases of Coronavirus were reported in Pakistan during the past week, confirmed the National Institute of Health (NIH) on Tuesday.
NIH statistics reveal that out of the 8,673 Covid-19 tests conducted in the past week, 37 people, making 0.37 percent of the total, tested positive.
The statistics show no fatalities attributed to the Coronavirus in the previous week.
Meanwhile, a representative from the Ministry of National Health Services, Regulations, and Coordination emphasized that the Pakistani government has bolstered the roles of both Border and Health Services in anticipation of potential sub-variants of Covid-19.
Vaccination Against Corona Virus
The official highlighted the presence of a comprehensive surveillance system at all country entry points, including airports. Rigorous rapid testing and passenger screenings will be carried out at these airports.
The official further revealed that approximately 90 percent of the population had been vaccinated against Covid-19.
Furthermore, he underscored the efficiency of the management team in place, which remains on high alert to tackle any potential emergency situation arising from a sub-variant of Covid-19.
The official assured that the Border and Health Services Pakistan is diligently enforcing international health regulations. In the event of any unforeseen circumstances, the health system is fully equipped to address the emergence of any sub-variant of the Omicron variant of Covid-19, including BF.7, within the country.
