Cairo: During a successful operation by security forces, at least 385 Pakistani migrants were freed from the captivity of human traffickers in the Al-Khueir area of Libya.
Migrants who were trying to enter Europe by boat were detained by smugglers and kept in trafficking warehouses.
According to Al-Abreen, a group that assists migrants in Libya, Pakistani nationals were released early Monday from smugglers’ captivity after an overnight operation by security forces in the Al-Khueir area.

It said the migrants including children were later taken to police headquarters.
The group further said the Pakistani migrants were planning to enter Europe through Libya but were detained by smugglers.
In June this year, a boat carrying 700 migrants from Libya drowned near the Greek coast. At least 209 Pakistanis were killed in the tragic incident. Only 104 people, including 12 Pakistanis could be rescued.
