ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Senator Ishaq Dar apprised the Asian Development Bank (ADB) delegation here on Wednesday over the current economic outlook of the country and also briefed the delegation about the recently concluded Standby Arrangement (SBA) with International Monetary Fund (IMF). The agreement was finalized on the 12th of this month.
Earlier, the finance minister welcomed the members of the delegation and hailed the valuable role of ADB in promoting sustainable development in Pakistan.
According to a press release, a delegation of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) led by Country Director Young Ye called on Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar here in Islamabad.
During the meeting, Ishaq Dar shared the reform priorities of the incumbent government in the areas of domestic revenue mobilization, women-inclusive finance and energy sector reforms.
He said that timely implementation of the ongoing development projects assisted by ADB was also discussed in the meeting.
The finance minister further reiterated the commitment of the current government to fulfil all international obligations on time and expressed the commitment to successfully complete the agreement with IMF.
Country Director ADB Young Ye, appreciated the reforms and policy decisions introduced by the government in vital economic sectors for achieving sustainable economic growth and development.
Young Ye congratulated Ishaq Dar on reaching the agreement with the IMF and other optimistic developments in Pakistan’s economy since the approval of SBA by the IMF Board that included the outstanding performance of the stock market, improvement in Pakistan’s global ratings, strengthening of Pak- Rupee against the US dollar, etc.
ADB to Continue Supporting Pakistan
Country Director ADB Young Ye also extended ADB’s support to Pakistan, specifically improving food security issues in the country and rehabilitation of the flood affectees.
The delegation also thanked the minister for ensuring the fast-track progress of different development projects being executed by ADB.
Later the finance minister expressed his profound gratitude to ADB management for their persistent and unflinching support and cooperation to Pakistan on different occasions.
The SAPM on Finance Tariq Bajwa, Secretary Finance, officials from the Finance Division, and other dignitaries from the ADB participated in the meeting.
