RAWALPINDI: The top brass of the Pakistan Army has maintained that sanctuaries and liberty of action available to terrorists of proscribed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and other militant groups in Afghanistan is one of the reasons impacting the security of Pakistan.
According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the statement was made during the 258th Corps Commanders Conference (CCC) presided over by Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir at the General Headquarters in Rawalpindi.
During the conference, the participants paid tribute to the brave soldiers who have been consistently sacrificing their lives in defense of their motherland against the threat of terrorism. The prevailing internal security environment was thoroughly discussed, with particular emphasis on the sanctuaries and freedom of action enjoyed by TTP and other similar groups in Afghanistan, along with the availability of advanced weaponry for terrorists.
Pakistan’s Army Preparedness
The military leaders extensively deliberated on the army’s operational preparedness and training aspects, underscoring the significance of objective training as a hallmark of professionalism.
COAS General Syed Asim Munir emphasized the need to remain vigilant and fully prepared to protect national security against any potential threat.
The forum was also apprised of the government’s economic revival plan and the army’s role in uplifting sectors such as agriculture, information technology, mining, minerals, and defense production sectors under the ambit of Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC). The participants pledged their complete support for the strategic initiatives outlined by the Government of Pakistan, aiming to revitalize the economy and provide technical and management assistance for the betterment of the country’s people.
