Five Dead, 12 Injured as Tourist Bus Plunges into Ravine in Diamer, Pakistan

GILGIT: A tragic incident occurred as a tourist bus plunged into a ravine in the Thalichi area of Diamer district of Gilgit-Baltistan province of Pakistan, resulting in the death of at least five people and leaving 12 others injured.

The bus was en route from Islamabad to Gilgit via Karakoram Highway when the accident occurred. The cause of the accident is still unknown.

Rescue officials and police rushed to the scene to provide assistance, with efforts underway to shift the injured and deceased to hospitals. Initially, police sources reported 12 casualties based on the count of bodies found at the accident site. However, the number of deceased was later revised to five, including a minor. Among the victims were women and children.

Medical Assistance to Injured Persons of Diamer Accident

The injured persons were given immediate first aid at a local 10-bed civil hospital before being prepared for transportation to Gilgit for further medical treatment. The accident occurred on Karakoram Highway, a route known for its high altitude and proximity to the River Indus.

Authorities are conducting an investigation to determine the cause of the tragic incident. The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of road safety measures and the need for continuous efforts to prevent such accidents in the future.
