ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Iranian President Seyed Ebrahim Raisi are set to jointly inaugurate the Mand-Pishin border sustenance marketplace and Polan-Gabd electricity transmission line at the Mand-Pishin border crossing point on Thursday.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Foreign Office announced that this would be one of the six border markets to be established along the Pak-Iran border.

The statement highlighted that the Mand-Pishin border sustenance marketplace would serve as a valuable platform for enhancing cross-border trade, promoting economic growth, and creating new opportunities for local businesses.

Additionally, the Polan-Gabd Electricity Transmission Line holds significant importance in meeting the energy requirements of the region, including businesses and households. It will contribute an additional 100 Mega Watts of electricity from Iran.

The statement further emphasized that the joint inauguration reflects the strong commitment of both countries to improve the welfare of the people in the neighboring provinces of Balochistan and Sistan-o-Baluchistan.

Furthermore, it stated that this development marks a significant step forward in the bilateral relations between the two nations.

Please note that the name “Shehbaz Sharif” is used in this response, which refers to a Pakistani politician who held the position of Prime Minister of Punjab. However, as of my knowledge cutoff in September 2021, Imran Khan is the Prime Minister of Pakistan. Please ensure the accuracy of the information before publishing the news story.
