ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) is making preparation for a sit-in outside the country’s apex court, local media reported on Saturday.
Some reports suggest that the ruling party Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has also started preparations for the protest. The workers of PML-N will arrive in Islamabad to participate in the protest in front of the Supreme Court (SC). A local media outlet reported that the daughter of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and PML-N leader, Maryam Nawaz, is likely to lead the rally to participate in the sit-in. JUI-F is also making preparation for the sit-in in front of Supreme Court on Monday. JUI-F General Secretary Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haidari also visited the site for the sit-in in front of the apex court on Saturday. Earlier, PPP also announced to attend the sit-in of PDM in front of the apex court on Monday.
PDM Prepares for Protest in Front of Supreme Court
Earlier, the head of Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) Maulana Fazl had announced that they would hold a sit-in against the behavior of the judiciary on Monday. Speaking to the journalists in Islamabad on Friday, he says: “We have decided that there will be a protest against the behavior of the judiciary”. He said: “There is terrorism and hooliganism being carried out in the country and the court is protecting that terrorism”. “The army chief’s headquarters is attacked, the corps commander’s house is assaulted … the way state defense institutions are being disrespected, is the court for their security or not?” He questioned.
The PDM announced the sit-in the front of the apex court on May 12 after former Prime Minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan was granted bail in multiple cases against him a day after his release on the orders of the SC.
