LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) will take up today (Monday) former prime minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Pakistan (PTI) chief Imran Khan’s petition seeking the dismissal of 121 cases registered against him.
The LHC had, on Saturday, fixed former PTI chairman’s petition seeking the dismissal of 121 cases for today. A five-member LHC bench headed by Justice Ali Baqar Najafi will hear the plea. The bench also includes Justice Alia Neelam, Justice Anwarul Haq, Justice Tariq Saleem and Justice Amjad Rafique. On the previous hearing, the court had sought a report from the relevant authorities regarding the ongoing investigation in the cases while the five-member bench ordered the PTI chief to join the probe. It is to mention here that the former premier moved the LHC to get the 121 cases registered against him dismissed.
The petition stated that the cases lodged against the PTI chief were based on false accusation and on political basis. Furthermore, the PTI chief urged the court to stop the concerned authorities from filing ‘illegal’ FIRs against him.
The Federation of Pakistan, the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority, the province of Punjab, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), Punjab Inspector General Police, the Director General of the Punjab Anti-Corruption Establishment, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Punjab Caretaker Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi, and Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah have been named as respondents in the petition.
