JERUSALEM: Israeli government said on Sunday that the exiled son of Iran’s Shah toppled in the 1979 Islamic revolution will visit Israel in the current week.
Reuters reported that Israel’s government calling him the “senior Iranian personality” to ever visit Israel.
Iran and Israel enjoyed warmer relations under the U.S-sponsored Shah, though they have become rivals since.
Israeli government says Reza Pahlavi to visit Israel
Israeli government, in its statement, said the visit by the son of Iran’s Shah is meant to make “a bridge between Israel and the Iranian people, and also expressing joint opposition” to Tehran.
Reza Pahlavi said that a democratic Iran will seek to renew its relations with Israel and Arab neighbors.
