KARACHI: The Sindh government has again appealed to the Election Commission of Pakistan, requesting the immediate election of mayor and deputy mayor, following the culmination of LG polls in Sindh.
In a letter to the Pakistani Election Commission, the PPP-led Sindh administration said the province’s LG elections were successful.
“Sindh govt wants mayors, and deputy mayors elected immediately.” The Election Commission of Pakistan is in charge of carrying out Article 140A. According to the letter, the ECP had been encouraged to take action.
After the results of the re-poll in 15 districts of Sindh during LG polls, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) revealed the party position. Voting in the first and second rounds of local body elections was halted in several Sindh districts.
The ECP released a party position on Monday after conducting new polls in the remaining constituencies.
In 7 out of 11 district member seats, the Pakistan People’s Party holds the advantage, according to the ECP, and 10 out of 16 chairpersons and vice chairman. Similarly, PPP candidates won 22 of the 32 General Members’ seats.
The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf won one seat for the chairman and vice chairman, while the GDA won one seat for the district member in the re-election.
