NEW YORK: Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg said on Tuesday that he would not permit Donald Trump to get away with lawbreaking following charging the US ex-president with a string of crimes over alleged hush money payments.

He said, “These are felony crimes in the state of New York. We cannot normalize serious criminal conduct, no matter who you are”.

Bragg further said that they today “uphold our sincere duty to ensure that everyone stands equal before the law in the country,”.

Earlier, Trump left the court after a historic hearing in New York. He pleaded not guilty to 34 criminal charges during a court hearing on Tuesday. Prosecutors said that Donald Trump was charged with 34 offense counts of falsifying business deals stopping from three pre-election hush-money cases.

Earlier, in a statement, Alvin Bragg said that Donald Trump repeatedly and dishonestly fabricated New York business deals to hide criminal conduct that buried damaging evidence from the voting public during the 2016 polls,”.

Meanwhile, Trump’s lawyer said that they would fight ‘sad,’ ‘boilerplate’ indictment. A lawyer for former US president Donald Trump said on Tuesday that they would fight the 34 criminal counts that Trump faces over hush-money payments, terming the charges “sad.”
