KSA Vows to Combat Human Trafficking

RIYADH: The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s Human Rights Commission and the National Committee to Combat Human Trafficking head Dr. Hala Al-Tuwaijri stressed that KSA has been paying a special focus to countering human trafficking and improving its institutional systems and legislation to combat human trafficking.

Dr. Hala Al-Tuwaijri expressed these views during a meeting to ambassadors and representatives of countries that export laborers to the KSA. They also discussed ways to cooperate in order to combat human trafficking during the meeting.

She said that Riyadh has increased its efforts in the fight against crime of human trafficking and has strengthened measures against such crimes. She maintained that a specialized prosecution offices have been also set up to probe such offenses.

Al-Tuwaijri added that Saudi Arabia’s is committed to protect human rights and ensuring that all people are treated equally.

General Secretary of the Committee to Combat Trafficking Mohammed Al-Masri said that human traffic is an international crime and there is need to extend regional and global cooperation to combat it. He said that such a consultative meeting is a great opportunity to further enhance cooperation in combating this crime.
