ISLAMABAD: Former president General (retired) Parvez Musharraf‘s body will be repatriated to Pakistan today at night from the United Arab Emirates (UAE), where he died on Sunday after a prolonged illness.
The mortal remains of Parvez Musharraf were to be flown to Pakistan at 11:30 am Pakistan time. However, diplomatic sources said there was a delay, and the special jet would leave for Pakistan at 7 pm.
Pakistan’s embassy in the UAE had issued a NOC for the repatriation of Parvez Musharraf’s body to Pakistan upon the request of his family.
Musharraf’s wife, Sehba Musharraf, daughter Ayla Musharraf, and son Bilal Musharraf will bring the body to Pakistan.
The former army chief’s body has been kept in the mortuary of a local hospital.

Parvez Musharraf dies at 79
Parvez Musharraf died in a hospital in Dubai at the age of 79. He was undergoing medical treatment for amyloidosis at American Hospital in Dubai.
Musharraf’s family had requested the Pakistani consulate in Dubai to shift the former army chief’s body to Pakistan.
Musharraf’s family sources confirmed that the former president would be buried in a Karachi graveyard. The bereaved family formally approached the Pakistani consulate in Dubai, seeking permission to shift Musharraf’s body to Pakistan.
Earlier, Pakistan’s Foreign Office spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra confirmed that they were facilitating the transportation of Musharraf’s mortal remains.
“Our missions in the United Arab Emirates are in contact with the bereaved family and are facilitating the transportation of the body,” she added.
