ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s security forces have killed 17 Indian-backed terrorists in two intelligence-based counter-terrorism operations in southwestern Balochistan province, the military’s media wing said on Tuesday.

“On 1 November 2026, security forces conducted two intelligence-based operations in Kachhi and Kharan Districts of Balochistan, on the reported presence of terrorists belonging to Indian proxy, Fitna Al Hindustan and Fitna Al Khawarij, neutralising seventeen Indian sponsored terrorists,” Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said.

The state uses the term Fitna al-Khawarij for the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) terrorist group and refers to designated Balochistan-based terrorist groups as Fitna al-Hindustan to highlight India’s role in terrorism and destabilisation across Pakistan.

“An intelligence-based operation was conducted in the Sanni area of Kachhi district; during the conduct of the operation, terrorists’ attempt to establish a roadblock in the city was thwarted by proactive action of security forces, resulting in the killing of ten Indian sponsored terrorists. Weapons and ammunition were also recovered,” ISPR said.

In another intelligence-based operation in District Kharan, security forces busted terrorists’ hideout, and after an intense fire exchange, seven Indian sponsored terrorists were killed. Weapons and ammunition were also recovered from the terrorists.

The military’s media wing added that security forces and law enforcement agencies would continue their counter-terrorism campaign under the vision of “Azm-e-Istehkam”, approved by the Federal Apex Committee under the National Action Plan, to eliminate foreign-sponsored and supported terrorism across Pakistan.

Balochistan, which borders Iran and Afghanistan, has experienced persistent security challenges, including attacks on security personnel and civilians.

Interior Minister pays tribute to security forces

Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi paid tribute to security forces for successful operations against Indian-sponsored terrorists in Balochistan.

He commended the professional capabilities of security forces for foiling the terrorists’ nefarious designs.

Pakistan witnesses sharp rise in cross-border terrorist attacks

Pakistan has witnessed a sharp rise in terrorist attacks, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, since the Afghan Taliban returned to power in Afghanistan in 2021.

The country recorded its highest monthly number of terrorist attacks in 12 years in September 2026, according to data compiled by the Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies (PICSS), an Islamabad-based independent think tank.

Islamabad has repeatedly urged Kabul to prevent its territory from being used by terrorist organisations to launch attacks inside Pakistan.

Pakistan maintains that the Afghan Taliban authorities have failed to take effective action against groups responsible for attacks on Pakistani security forces and civilians.
