ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s security forces thwarted a drone attack attempt by Indian proxy Fitna al-Hindustan in Balochistan, bringing down all five unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) before they could reach their intended targets, security sources said.

According to security sources, the Indian-backed terrorists attempted to target a security check-post in the Albat area of Balochistan’s Kharan district.

The security forces responded promptly and effectively, destroying all five drones before they could reach their intended target, security sources said. No loss of life or property was reported in the incident, the sources added.

It may be noted that Pakistan last month shot down eight drones after they entered the country’s airspace from Afghanistan, security sources said.

The security sources said the armed forces’ air defence system detected all eight drones in time and intercepted them, foiling the attempted intrusion.

The sources had said the air defence system deployed along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border and operated by the Pakistan Air Force remains fully operational and ready round the clock.

Pakistan has witnessed a sharp rise in cross-border terrorist attacks, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, since the Afghan Taliban returned to power in 2021.

Islamabad has repeatedly urged the Taliban regime to prevent Afghan territory from being used by terrorist organisations to carry out attacks inside Pakistan.

However, the Afghan Taliban regime has failed to take effective action against terrorist groups responsible for attacks on Pakistani security forces and civilians.

Pakistan launched a large-scale counterterrorism operation Ghazab lil-Haq in February 2026 to eliminate terrorists and their sanctuaries.
