RIYADH: Saudi aid agency, the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief) has signed a joint executive programme virtually with the Yemeni Family Care Association to implement an emergency water supply and environmental sanitation project for displaced people in Yemen’s Lahj Governorate.
Under the project, 32,445 litres of water will be supplied daily for 90 days. It will also establish 16 water distribution points, each equipped with a 2,000-litre tank, and provide 618 containers for water transportation and storage, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported on Thursday.
Water quality testing will also be carried out to ensure the safety of the supply.
The initiative is expected to directly benefit 2,163 people and indirectly assist a further 1,050.
The project forms part of Saudi Arabia’s ongoing humanitarian and relief efforts through KSrelief to improve access to safe water and strengthen the water supply and environmental sanitation sector in Yemen.
