ISLAMABAD: The Government of Pakistan has promoted 08 Pakistan Air Force (PAF) Officers to the designation of Air Vice Marshal.
The promoted Air Officers include AirVice Marshal Imran Qadir, Air Vice Marshal Shahryar Khan, Air Vice Marshal Nauman Waheed, Air Vice Marshal Ghazanfar Latif, Air Vice Marshal Abuzar Khan, Air Vice Marshal Muhammad Asif Aslam, Air Vice Marshal Mehr Yar Saqib Niazi, and Air Vice Marshal Ghulam Shabbir.
PAF officers
Air Vice Marshal Imran Qadir was commissioned in the Pakistan Air Force’s GD(P) Branch in June 1992 and was awarded the coveted Sword of Honour. During his career, he has held the positions of Commandant Combat Support at the PAF Airmen Academy Korangi Creek and Chief Test Pilot for the JF-17 program.
He previously held the distinguished position of Advisor to the Chief of the Air Staff for Audit, Operations, and Evaluation Cell at Air Headquarters, Islamabad. He has also held the position of Assistant Chief of the Air Staff (Training Officers). He received the Sitara-i-Imtiaz (Military) award and has a master’s in war studies.
Air Vice Marshal Ghazanfar Latif joined the Pakistan Air Force’s GD(P) Branch in May 1993. During his distinguished career, he has commanded a a Flying Wing, Fighter Squadron, and an Operational Air Base. At Air Headquarters in Islamabad, he was Assistant Chief of the Air Staff (Safety) and Assistant Chief of the Air Staff (Operations). He graduated from National Defence University with a Master’s degree in War Studies. He has received the Sitara-i-Imtiaz (Military) and the Sitara-i-Basalat.
In May 1993, Air Vice Marshal Shahryar Khan was commissioned in the Pakistan Air Force’s GD(P) Branch. During his service, he has commanded a Fighter Squadron, a Flying Wing, a Military Training Wing, and an Operational Air Base. At Air Headquarters in Islamabad, he also performed his duties as Assistant Chief of the Air Staff (Plans).
The Air Officer has also held positions at Regional Air Command as Senior Air Staff Officer and Personal Staff Officer to the Chief of the Air Staff. He graduated with a master’s in national security and war studies. Additionally, he holds degrees from the UK’s Royal College of Defence Studies and Advanced Staff and War College. The Air Officer was given the Sitara-i-Imtiaz award (Military).
In May 1993, Air Vice Marshal Nauman Waheed was commissioned in the Pakistan Air Force’s GD(P) Branch. During his service, he has commanded a Support Wing, an Operational Air Base and a Fighter Squadron. At Air Headquarters, Islamabad, he held the positions of Assistant Chief of the Air Staff (Operational Research & Analysis) and Assistant Chief of the Air Staff (Plans).
He has a degree of Master in Strategic Studies from National Defence University (NDU) and has also served as Directing Staff at this distinguished university. He received the Sitara-i-Imtiaz (Military).
Air Vice Marshal Mehr Yar Saqib Niazi was commissioned in the Branch of Engineering in Pakistan Air Force in June 1992. During his distinguished career, he led an operational base’s engineering wing, and served as Managing Director (Mirage Rebuild Factory), Director Weapon System Management (JF-17), and Commandant (Tech) at the PAF Airmen Academy Korangi Creek.
In the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, he also served as the General Security Aviation Command advisor to the General Security Aviation Command. The Air Officer graduated from National Defence University and has a Master’s degree in War Studies. Additionally, he received the Sitara-i Imtiaz (Military).
In June 1992, Air Vice Marshal Abuzar Khan was commissioned in the Engineering Branch of the Pakistan Air Force. He has held positions as managing director at Aircraft Rebuild Factory, director of weapon system management (trainer), and project director during his career. He has also led an engineering wing. Both strategic studies and war studies are his areas of master’s study. The Air Officer was given the Sitara-i-Imtiaz award (Military).
Muhammad Asif Aslam, Air Vice Marshal, was commissioned in the Engineering Branch of the Pakistan Air Force in June 1992. He has held the positions of director of weapons (research and development), director of missile and ground armament, and commander of an air engineering depot during his career. The Air Officer previously worked at Air Headquarters in Islamabad as the Assistant Chief of the Air Staff (Weapons Engineering). He has master’s degrees in both war studies and strategic studies. He has received Sitara-i Imtiaz (Military).
In December 1992, Air Vice Marshal Ghulam Shabbir was commissioned in the Engineering Branch of the Pakistan Air Force. He led the School of Aeronautics and an Engineering Wing during his career. At Air Headquarters in Islamabad, he was Assistant Chief of the Air Staff (Airmen Training & Civilians). He provided technical advice to the Nigerian Air Force as well. The Air Officer received the Sitara-i-Imtiaz award and has a Master’s degree in War Studies (Military).
