COPENHAGEN: Pakistan and Denmark have agreed to strengthen trade and investment ties, green transition, and energy cooperation.
The understanding was reached at the fifth round of Bilateral Political Consultations between Pakistan and Denmark held in Copenhagen.
During the meeting, the two sides also vowed to enhance multilateral cooperation, people-to-people contacts, and consular matters, according to a statement issued by the Foreign Office.
Additional Secretary (Europe), Ambassador Ayesha Ali, led the Pakistani delegation, while the Danish side was led by State Secretary for Trade and Investments, Ambassador Susanne Hyldelund.
“The two sides undertook a comprehensive review of bilateral relations, including political engagement,” the statement said.

Positive trajectory of bilateral relations
The two sides expressed satisfaction with the positive trajectory of bilateral relations and reaffirmed their commitment to further expanding cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
Particular emphasis was placed on strengthening trade and investment ties, including greater business-to-business engagement and investment by Danish companies in renewable energy, information technology, infrastructure, logistics, port facilities, mining and minerals, fisheries and sustainable manufacturing.
Pakistan appreciated Denmark’s continued cooperation under the Green Framework Engagement Agreement and the Strategic Sector Cooperation, including support for the Faisalabad Wastewater Treatment Plant.
People-to-people contacts
The two sides also discussed measures to facilitate people-to-people contacts, including visa and consular matters, the mobility of professionals and businesspersons, and air connectivity through direct flights.
On multilateral cooperation, the two sides reviewed their close coordination while serving concurrently on the Security Council for the 2025–26 term. They also exchanged views on important regional and global developments.
They agreed to maintain the momentum of bilateral engagement and continue close coordination on matters of mutual interest. The next round of Pakistan-Denmark Bilateral Political Consultations will be held in Pakistan on mutually agreed dates.
