ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Counter Terrorism Department has killed a terrorist during an intelligence-based counterterrorism operation conducted in the northwestern city of Peshawar on Thursday.
During the counterterrorism operation at Garhi Sherdad, Warsak Road of the city, a Police Constable Afaq was martyred while two other police personnel were injured, CTD officials said.
The injured personnel were shifted to the hospital for medical treatment. Additional police and CTD personnel reached the site, and the operation remained underway.
Terrorism remains a direct threat to civilians, security personnel, and public peace.
The martyrdom of Constable Afaq reflects the continued sacrifices being made by police and other LEAs in the fight against terrorism, security officials said.
These sacrifices demonstrate the State’s continued resolve to protect civilians and prevent terrorists from endangering public life.
According to security officials, the loss of personnel does not weaken the State’s resolve; rather, it reinforces the determination of LEAs to confront and contain the terrorist threat.
They said there is no space for terrorism or violent extremism in a peaceful society, and LEAs will continue performing their duties with greater vigilance and determination.
Every terrorist threat will be pursued and neutralised through coordinated law-enforcement and security operations, in accordance with the law, said the security officials.sec
