RIYADH: Secretary-General of the Islamic Military Counter-Terrorism Coalition (IMCTC), Major General Pilot Mohammed bin Saeed Al-Moghedi, has discussed counter terrorism cooperation with Chargé d’Affaires of the Syrian Embassy in Saudi Arabia, Mohsen Mahbash, at the coalition’s headquarters in Riyadh.
The meeting discussed ways to strengthen cooperation between IMCTC and Syria in combating terrorism and extremism, building capabilities, and exchanging expertise, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported on Tuesday.

The meeting also reviewed the coalition’s programmes and initiatives across its four key areas: intellectual, media, counter-terrorist financing, and military.
Al-Moghedi stressed the strategic importance of Syria joining the coalition, citing its role in regional security and stability and the benefits of cooperation with other member states.
Saudi Arabia plays leading role in supporting Islamic countries
He said Saudi Arabia has harnessed its resources to combat terrorism and played a leading role in supporting countries across the Islamic world, particularly Syria, Palestine and Yemen, as part of its Arab and Islamic responsibilities and commitment to protecting the security, unity and sovereignty of states.
Al-Moghedi also outlined the role of the Initiatives Financing Fund in translating national needs into practical programmes aimed at strengthening capabilities and enhancing preparedness.
He affirmed the coalition’s readiness to develop tailored initiatives to address Syria’s priorities in combating terrorism and extremism should it join the coalition.
The visit is part of efforts to strengthen communication and coordination between IMCTC and Syria and explore avenues of cooperation that support joint efforts to combat terrorism and extremism while contributing to regional and international security and stability.
