Saudi Crown Prince Unveils First Locally Manufactured Electric Vehicles

JEDDAH: Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince and Prime Minister, Prince Mohammed bin Salman, has unveiled the first vehicles from local electric vehicle manufacturer Ceer under the name Exobot, aiming to strengthen the Kingdom’s position in the global automotive industry.

This national milestone reflects the Kingdom’s strategic direction toward developing an advanced industrial sector aligned with the objectives of  Vision 2030, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported on Monday.

“The launch of CEER’s first vehicles represents another step forward in Saudi Arabia’s progression to build a sustainable and prosperous industrial ecosystem,” the Crown Prince, who is also Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Public Investment Fund (PIF), said.

“It further enables the automotive sector as a key driver of economic growth, through attracting investments, empowering national talent, and expanding the private sector’s role to further position Saudi Arabia to become a leading regional and global hub for this industry,” he said.

Additionally, CEER’s EXOBOT sedan and SUV feature distinctive designs inspired by the Kingdom’s landscape and rooted in its culture and national vision. Designed and engineered locally, the vehicles have been developed to the highest global standards, reinforcing the Kingdom’s growing presence in the global automotive industry.

By 2034, CEER is projected to contribute more than SAR30 billion ($8 billion) to Riyadh’s GDP, improve the trade balance by over SAR80 billion ($21 billion), and create quality direct and indirect jobs.

The announcement supports the Public Investment Fund’s (PIF) efforts to establish an integrated and competitive local automotive ecosystem as part of its mandate to drive Kingdom’s economic diversification.

The PIF launched CEER in 2022 as the Kingdom’s first automotive brand, aimed at supporting the national industrial ecosystem, attracting investment, creating private-sector opportunities, and contributing to GDP growth.
