DUBAI, UAE: Pakistan women’s cricket team suffered a humiliating defeat against arch-rivals India in the ninth match of the ACC Women’s T20 Asia Cup 2026, as they were bowled out for a paltry 55, their lowest-ever total in T20I cricket, before India chased down the target with seven wickets and 68 balls to spare at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Saturday.

Pakistan’s batting collapse: A record low
Pakistan captain Fatima Sana won the toss and opted to bat first, but her decision backfired spectacularly. The Green Shirts started positively, with openers Muneeba Ali (13) and Shawaal Zulfiqar (14) putting together a 27-run partnership inside five overs.
However, Shafali Verma provided India the breakthrough by dismissing Muneeba, and Shree Charani struck twice in the next over to remove Zulfiqar and Gull Feroza for a duck.

Charani’s twin strike triggered a catastrophic collapse. Pakistan lost their remaining seven wickets, including captain Fatima Sana for zero, for just 26 runs, eventually being bowled out for 55 in 18.1 overs. This marked Pakistan’s lowest total in women’s T20Is.
Bowling heroes for India
Prema Rawat and Shree Charani spearheaded India’s bowling charge with three wickets each. Deepti Sharma claimed two wickets, while Shafali Verma chipped in with one scalp.
India’s chase: Sensible and steady
Chasing a modest target of 56, India got off to a shaky start. Pakistan captain Fatima Sana struck twice in the second over, dismissing Shafali Verma (12) and Pratika Rawal (4) with just 18 runs on the board. Captain Harmanpreet Kaur then joined Smriti Mandhana (9), but Fatima struck again to remove Mandhana, leaving India at 29/3 in four overs.

However, skipper Harmanpreet Kaur (18 not out) and Deepti Sharma (12 not out) steadied the innings with an unbeaten 28-run partnership, steering India to victory in the ninth over. Fatima Sana finished as the solitary wicket-taker for Pakistan with figures of 3/17 in three overs.

The seven-wicket victory marked India’s third consecutive win in the tournament, placing them at the top of Group A with six points and a massive net run rate of 5.471. The Women in Blue had already qualified for the semi-finals following their triumph over Hong Kong.

Pakistan, meanwhile, remain second on the table with two points in two matches, their net run rate now standing at -0.569. They will face bottom-placed Hong Kong in their final group-stage match on Thursday to secure a semi-final berth.
