DUBAI, UAE: Pakistan Women’s bowlers produced a clinical and disciplined performance to defend a modest 120-run target, restricting Thailand to 84/8 and securing a 35-run victory in their ACC Women’s T20 Asia Cup 2026 campaign opener at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Tuesday.
After being put in to bat first, Pakistan’s innings was held together by left-handed opener Muneeba Ali’s valiant 54 off 52 deliveries, which proved to be the cornerstone of their total. However, it was the bowlers who stole the show, delivering a masterclass in line, length and variation to strangle Thailand’s chase from the very beginning.

Pakistan’s innings: Recovery after early collapse
Pakistan’s batting innings got off to a disastrous start, losing three wickets inside the first five overs with just 23 runs on the board. Shawaal Zulfiqar (1) and Gull Feroza (0) departed inside the first two overs, while Ayesha Zafar (9) fell in the fifth over, leaving Pakistan reeling at 23/3.

Sadaf Shamas joined Muneeba in the middle, and the duo batted sensibly to launch Pakistan’s recovery, stitching together a crucial 54-run partnership for the fourth wicket. Sadaf contributed a valuable 20 before falling victim to Suleeporn Laomi in the 13th over. Captain Fatima Sana departed for a golden duck in the very next over, leaving Pakistan at 77/5.
Muneeba continued to anchor the innings, sharing a brief 13-run stand with Umm-e-Hani before being dismissed by Laomi in the 17th over. Handy contributions from Umm-e-Hani (17) and Tuba Hassan (12 not out off just 4 balls) helped Pakistan finish at 119/9 in their 20 overs.

Suleeporn Laomi spearheaded Thailand’s bowling attack with sensational figures of 3/14, while Thipatcha Putthawong also picked up three wickets, conceding just 18 runs.
Clinical bowling defends modest total
Chasing 120 for victory, Thailand’s innings never gained any momentum as Pakistan’s bowlers delivered a relentless and disciplined performance. Sadia Iqbal was the pick of the bowlers, returning impressive figures of 3/11 in her four overs, including one maiden, while Tuba Hassan chipped in with 2/17.
