ISLAMABAD: Brazilian Foreign Minister Mauro Vieira has commended Pakistan’s constructive role and efforts to end the US-Iran conflict through mediation.
In a phone call with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, he underscored the importance of dialogue and diplomacy for global peace and security, the Foreign Office said in a statement on Thursday.
He also felicitated Islamabad on the signing of the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement.
Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Turkiye signed a joint defence pact on August 7, 2026, establishing a collective security framework under which an armed attack against any one member is considered an attack against all three.

Trump announces ‘economic D-Day’ against Iran
It may be recalled that US President Trump announced the “MOST CRUSHING ECONOMIC OPERATION EVER TAKEN AGAINST ANY COUNTRY”, warning Iran and countries that continue to provide economic support to Tehran of sweeping new measures.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump accused Iran of rejecting opportunities to reach a deal with his administration and said Washington would pursue “Economic Warfare and Isolation on an unprecedented scale”.
“No one has given the Islamic Republic of Iran a greater opportunity to make a Deal than me. TRAGICALLY, for them, they have failed to take it,” Trump said.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi conveyed the “special and important” message during his visit to Tehran, according to Pakistan’s Interior Ministry. The ministry did not disclose the contents of the message.
Naqvi also met Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, with discussions focusing on regional security, stability and bilateral relations.
Foreign Office said the visit was aimed at promoting “peace, stability and constructive engagement”.
The interior minister also briefed Iranian officials on the recently concluded defence pact between Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye and took Tehran into confidence over the agreement, the Interior Ministry said.
Naqvi further told his Iranian counterpart that Field Marshal Munir remained in contact with Gulf countries and all other stakeholders on the crisis in the Middle East, indicating that Islamabad is maintaining channels with the principal parties involved in the regional crisis.
The visit came amid renewed diplomatic efforts to revive a Washington-Tehran dialogue.
Islamabad has sought to facilitate engagement between Washington and Tehran and has previously hosted negotiations aimed at reducing tensions and finding a political settlement.
