“Pakistan strongly condemns the Houthi attack on a non-combatant commercial vessel,” he said, stressing that such attacks put innocent lives at risk, violate international law and pose a serious threat to freedom of navigation, maritime security and the safety of commercial shipping in the Red Sea.
The deputy prime minister said Pakistan was in contact with the relevant Saudi authorities and the internationally recognised government of Yemen to obtain further information about the incident and establish the circumstances surrounding the attack.
He said he had directed the Pakistani Embassy in Riyadh to immediately coordinate with the concerned authorities and pursue all necessary measures for the retrieval and repatriation of the remains of the deceased Pakistani nationals.

The embassy has also been instructed to facilitate all possible assistance for the Pakistani national who sustained injuries in the attack, Dar added.
The foreign minister said Pakistan was closely monitoring the situation and would remain in contact with the relevant authorities as further information emerged.
The Red Sea remains a strategically important international maritime route, carrying significant volumes of commercial shipping between Europe and Asia.
Attacks on commercial vessels in the region have raised concerns over the safety of sailors, freedom of navigation and the security of global trade routes.
