PCB announces May 2027 tour schedule as both teams begin preparations for global tournament

LAHORE: Pakistan will tour England for a five-match One-Day International series in May 2027 as part of preparations for the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2027, the Pakistan Cricket Board announced on Thursday.

The series will be played from May 15 to 26, giving both teams important white-ball preparation before the World Cup, which is scheduled to take place in South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia from October 4 to November 21, 2027.

The opening ODI will be played in Southampton on May 15, followed by the second match in Manchester on May 19.

The third ODI will take place in Leeds on May 21, while Chester-le-Street will host the fourth match on May 23. The fifth and final ODI will be played in Cardiff on May 26.

The series is expected to be an important test for Pakistan, who are currently fifth in the ICC Men’s ODI Team Rankings. England are ranked seventh.

Pakistan are presently in the West Indies for a two-match Test series and will return to England next month for a three-match Test series from August 19 to September 13.

Pakistan last played an ODI series in England in 2021, when the hosts completed a 3-0 clean sweep. Babar Azam was Pakistan’s leading run-scorer in that series with 177 runs, including a brilliant 158 in the third ODI.

England hold the advantage in the overall ODI record between the two sides, winning 56 of their 91 matches. Pakistan have won 32, while three matches ended in a tie or no result.
